Two part update

Same core drawing, but two updates. First, just the new inking part. Then, one possible shading direction. Note that not yet drawn is the inking for the stylized flames that will be surrounding his hands.

A sketch of a steampunk robot. Couldn't think of anything I wanted to draw.

I really need to figure out how to do the more standard digital style instead of continuing to emulate physical media styles.

Well, after some comments I decided I needed to have better quality cloth, and a cleaner signature. So, here is the update.

Stage 5 of the Big Guy

Note the shading now present on his upper torso and left forearm.
 

Here's the latest update. Major changes include (1) updating the right hand so that the index finger looked more appropriate, and (2) shading in the left hand.
I'm oddly hapy with the left hand, although I may change the way the left pinky looks.

More on the big guy

Here's the new update (around an hour's new work). I'm particularly happy with the forearm and hand, less satisfied with the bicep. Might re-work that (or perhaps throw a cloth over it, hah).

Here is the next version of this guy. As you can see, I started with a nice mid-tone blue (matching, roughly, my favorite shade of charcoal paper to use colored pencils on), and have begun working in fleshtones. I'm sort of figuring out the content as I go, but you can see another hour and a half of work here.

The close-up of the head gives a better indication of the detail. These aren't the full-resolution images, of course.

For those interested, there are several layers in the photoshop file - the sketching (light lines in the background), the inking (the solid black lines on top), and the coloring (the shading below the ink). When I'm finished, the coloring alone would probably be interesting even without the inking. 

This is the curent status of a new pic. This is like two hours in or so.
